Got a question? We have answers!
Before the Study
How do I take part in this study from home?
Participation is 100% virtual. We ship the product directly to our participants' homes. Participants share information about their health through our online surveys. All information is kept strictly confidential.
How long is a Radicle study?
Radicle Science studies vary in duration. Most studies are six weeks. However, some are as long as eight weeks. Once the baseline survey has been completed, participants can expect to receive their study product within a few weeks. We ask participants take their study product as directed on the study insert, for the study's duration. Surveys will be distributed weekly via email. At the study’s conclusion, we send a final survey. Upon the completion of this survey, participants will be "unblinded", meaning they will be made aware of their study product's formulation.
How will I be compensated for participating in the study?
Radicle Science studies are strictly volunteer-based. Participants receive no form of payment. However, participants are provided a health and wellness product or placebo at no cost.
I just signed up for a Radicle study. When will I receive my product?
After enrolling in the study and completing a baseline survey, participants receive a shipment email and subsequent tracking notifications.
Please remember, the baseline survey must be completed in order to receive a study product.
We ask that participants don’t begin taking any new dietary supplements and do not stop taking current ones until the end of the study (unless advised by a physician). This way, we can determine whether changes in health are truly reflective of study product usage.
During the Study
I never received my product. What should I do?
Please contact our support team by completing the contact form at the bottom of this page. If your package is confirmed as delivered, but you have not received it, please reach out to us as soon as possible. Unfortunately, in most cases, we cannot provide replacements for missing products that are confirmed as delivered.
How should I take my product?
Please refer to the study insert or label instructions for more details regarding the study product, serving size, and instructions for use. After you have verified your study product (via emailed survey), an instructional email with the same information is sent to your inbox. If you cannot find either, contact us using the form at the bottom of this page, and we will email your study insert.
Can I take the products with food? What time do I take it? How long before bed should I take it?
Your study insert has everything you need to know about the manufacturer’s suggested use for your study product, as does the instructional email. As researchers, we cannot tell you how to take your study product. We will be able to capture how you took the product on your surveys. It is very important to the brand that makes your product to understand how real people, in the real world, take their products!
If you misplace your insert or lose track of your instructional email, you can use the contact form below, and we’ll resend the study insert.
My product arrived damaged. What should I do?
Please reach out to us using the contact form below. We may be able to replace your package if you follow up with us within 48 hours.
I stopped getting my survey links. What’s happening?
If a week passes without receiving a survey, first check your spam folder. If that doesn’t resolve your issue, please reach out to us using the contact form below. We can resend your survey if needed.
Wait! My survey link isn’t working! What do I do?
Simply send us an email (help@radiclescience.com), and we will send you a new survey link.
What if I want to leave the study?
Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You can leave the study at any time and for any reason. We certainly understand. We hope you sign up for another study in the future. You can join our newsletter by clicking here for current and future studies, as we always email our Radicle volunteers before we open recruitment to the general public.
To withdraw, click 'unsubscribe' on any study email.
What if I forget to fill out a survey?
Missing one survey won’t make or break your results. Just pick back up with the next one! The more surveys you complete, the more comprehensive your personalized health report will be.
My time expired on my survey link! What do I do?
All study surveys expire 72 hours after being delivered.
If you get busy and a survey expires before you fill it out, certainly don’t give up on the study! Simply do your best to respond to the rest of the surveys. The more surveys you fill out, the more your data you contribute to advance the science of health and wellness products.
I ran out of my product. What should I do?
Radicle Science provides enough study product to take your product as directed throughout the study period. Unfortunately, in the event that you run out of your study product, we cannot provide product refills. We ask that you continue to fill out your surveys, even if you’re no longer taking the product.
What if I have a negative effect from the study product. What should I do?
During the informed consent process, you’ll learn about all the potential risks and benefits of joining the research study.
If you experience any unwanted side effects from your study product, please report them via survey or directly to the safety team using the form at the bottom of this page. You can stop taking the product at any time.
After the Study
I enjoyed the study! How can I participate in more studies like this?
In your last survey, you’ll be given the opportunity to let us know if you’d like to hear about future studies. You can also check out our ‘Open studies’ page to see if you’re eligible for our currently enrolling studies.
What is the best way to share my feedback about my study experience?
The final study survey provides the opportunity to share your feelings regarding your study experience.
How do I refer friends and family who may be interested in joining a study with you?
You may refer friends and family to be notified concerning future studies by simply sharing your personal referral link that's located in our monthly Real Science for Real People Newsletter. When they sign up through your link, it counts towards your referrals. If you need any assistance accessing your referral link, please reach out to lara@radiclescience.com.

- Thirty referrals means you'll receive $25 to spend at Gifts For Good.
What is a Personalized Health Report?
Your personalized health report details the product you received and how your health may have changed throughout the study, based on your survey responses. It may also share how the placebo/control group compares with your individual experience. We encourage you to complete as many surveys as you’re able to, as this allows for the most comprehensive report.
When will I know if I got placebo or the real thing?
After the completion of your final survey, we’ll let you know immediately whether you received a placebo product or an active product. Additionally, we'll share the detailed ingredient list of your study product. So you will be able to access this information at a later time, it will also be sent via email.
General Questions
What does randomized, blinded, placebo-controlled trial mean?
-
Randomized— You are randomly (by chance) assigned to one of the study groups to take a study product. Once you are randomly assigned to a study group, we cannot change your assigned group.
- Blinded— You will not know if you're taking an active product or a placebo product until the study ends. You will know (from the consent form, an email, and the study insert) what potential ingredients could be included in your study product. .
- If you have concerns regarding potential ingredients, please reach out via the form below. We can address your inquiries prior to your signing the consent form.
- Placebo-controlled— This study group is provided a study product that appears identical to the active study product, but contains no active ingredients.
Why am I being asked the same questions so frequently?
Our studies are designed to examine if and how your health changes over time. We measure health using validated questionnaires (sets of questions that have been shown to accurately measure what they're supposed to measure). We ask these questions every week so that we can assess how your responses, and corresponding health concerns, have changed throughout the study period.
Will I receive an active study product once the study completes if I was assigned to placebo?
We as researchers are not permitted to distribute both an active and a placebo study product to any participant. Once the study is complete, the brand that made your study product may send you coupons, vouchers, or a sample product, pending you "opt in" to hear from the brand in your final survey. This is solely at their discretion.
What if I cannot begin taking my study product as soon as it is delivered?
Only begin taking your study product when you are ready. If you delay taking it, please fill out your surveys regardless. Simply indicate you have not taken your study product. If you have any further questions or concerns, please submit your inquiry via the form below.
What risks could there be from taking part in this study?
1. Data and Privacy Protection
Anytime you provide your data anywhere in the world, there’s a theoretical risk of breach of confidentiality; however, we provide multiple layers of security to protect your identity. Your study data will be entered into a password protected database and kept in a secure cloud location accessible only by members of the research team and authorized representatives.
2. Product Information
The health and wellness products used in this study vary. We have a lot of work to do to understand the safety and potential effects (if any) of health and wellness products. There’s more that we do NOT know about these products than what we DO know about them, which is why we want to study them.
3. Possible Side Effects and Risks
You’re advised to discuss with your healthcare provider whether it is safe for you to take part in this study.
- For some individuals, health and wellness products can result in negative side effects such as dry mouth, diarrhea, reduced appetite, drowsiness, or fatigue.
- Use of some health and wellness products with alcohol or other drugs that slow brain activity, such as those used to treat stress or insomnia, may increase sedation and drowsiness, and thereby increase risk of physical injury.
- If you’re taking other medications, supplements, or herbal products, there is a potential for drug interactions to occur with those products and your study product.
- If you’re taking medications that advise against grapefruit consumption, we recommend that you don’t participate in our studies, since grapefruit and some health and wellness products may have similar drug interactions.
- If a health and wellness product contains federally legal cannabinoids such as CBD, the product places a person at risk for a positive THC drug test since the products can legally contain up to 0.3% THC.
- Some health and wellness products may cause kidney or liver dysfunction and may cause an increase in liver enzymes.
- If you have known kidney or liver disease, or drink more than 3 alcoholic drinks (beer, wine, spirits) per day, you may not get to be in the study.
- The effect of some health and wellness products on pregnancy and breast milk (nursing mothers) isn’t known.
- If you’re pregnant, are attempting to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, you can’t take part in this study.
We’ll periodically ask you about side effects during the study; however, if you experience any side effects from taking your study product, please report them to safety@radiclescience.com.
