Meet the Guest: Dr. Sybille Buchwald-Werner
Dr. Sybille Buchwald-Werner is a distinguished German pharmacist and scientist, with a PhD in pharmaceutical chemistry from Heinrich-Heine University of Düsseldorf, specializing in computer-aided drug design. With over 20 years of experience in the natural product industry, she has made significant contributions in natural product development, strategic portfolio management, and the innovation of plant extracts for dietary supplements, functional foods, and pharmaceuticals.
In 2009, Dr. Buchwald-Werner founded Vital Solutions GmbH, a privately-owned, fast-growing company specialized in the development and marketing of high quality, innovative, natural, science-based, and IP protected food ingredients, dedicated to improving the quality of human life. A company based on innovation, science and sustainability. Under her leadership, the company launched innovative branded ingredients like Benegut®, Bluenesse®, Careflow®, Care300®, and Recoverben®, and established a global distribution network. In 2023, Vital Solutions became part of the ABFI group, under Fytexia.
Dr. Buchwald-Werner is an innovator with passion for communication and sales. She is an active researcher with interests in gut health, brain health, well-aging, and sports nutrition. She has authored over 50 publications and delivered more than 35 lectures. A member of several prestigious organizations, she also serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of Agro Food Industry Hi-Tech. Committed to mentoring, she co-chairs the Women in Nutraceuticals mentorship program, supporting the advancement of women to C-suite positions in the industry.

Meet the Host: Pelin Thorogood
Pelin Thorogood is the Cofounder and Executive Chair of Radicle Science, an AI-driven HealthTech pioneer recognized as a “World Changing Idea” by Fast Company for powering the future of Personalized Wellness with proof. Her category-defining efforts earned her the INC 200 Female Founder award in 2023. Previously, Pelin held pivotal C-level roles, including CEO, in both public and private companies, establishing herself as a MarTech trailblazer. Pelin is a prolific writer and speaker on topics ranging from AI, analytics, entrepreneurship, women’s health and precision medicine, including in Fast Company, Forbes, SXSW, TED, Montgomery Summit, ABC News and Cornell Enterprise. Deeply committed to impact, education, and community, Pelin serves as Trustee and Vice Chair of the UC San Diego Foundation and as Chair of the UC San Diego Chancellor’s Council for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Pelin holds a B.S., M.Eng and MBA, all from Cornell.
